ObGyn appointment this morning at 7am
She was following up to see if I had lost some weight which she recommended to help the PCOS.
To them it looked like I had lost 23 pounds which is great! However, I know that this number is a little skewed.
In preparation for TTC, I was taken off my previous blood pressure medication Benicar because it was considered a bad medication for pregnancy. My regular physician switched me to Labatalol which does not include the HCTZ (diuretic) in it. I started gaining alot of water weight immediately. I was so uncomfortable. Thankfully, she prescribed HCTZ to take ONLY until I was pregnant and then I would have to discontinue immediately.
When I went to my last ObGyn appt, I had about 8 extra pounds of water weight which dropped off after I started the HCTZ again.
So...in all honesty, I'd only really lost 15lbs from my original/normal weight.
She was impressed anyway thankfully.
We discussed my crazy 67day cycle and 14day period.
I mentioned possibly taking Femara and she was open-minded to the possibility, but she said that their first line of treatment was always Clomid and that 70/80% of women with PCOS have been able to get pregnant on Clomid.
She did mention that she actually has some patients that have had multiple births after taking Clomid and that that was the highest risk of Clomid 1-5%
She prescribed Clomid and gave me a piece of paper with instructions.
She also explained that she does not give a 3rd prescription of Clomid until the man has had a semen analysis.
The only reason I haven't even thought of that is because 1) I have PCOS which makes it harder to get pregnant in the first place. 2) It doesn't appear that I can ovulate on my own.
More than likely it is my side rather than his side.
He has mentioned getting checked and being worried that he is the problem. I figure, after the first Clomid cycle if it doesn't work I might ask him to make an appointment. I don't really want to wait for another Clomid prescription to find out.
If no period by August 1, take a urine pregnancy test. If negative, call in for prescription of Provera.
Once period starts, take Clomid 100mg on CD5-9
Intercourse every other day CD11-18
On CD21, I am supposed to come in to the office to have them check my progesterone levels.
She mentioned I could use an Ovulation kit also, which I probably will.
I left the appointment feeling much more hopeful about everything.
I know Clomid might not work, but right now, its a little white pill of hope.
